Stay ahead of the Curve A Course and a Book about Going Green
Our mission is to help hotels rapidly improve their environmental performance, lower their operating costs and delight their guests.
COURSE: HOW TO GREEN YOUR HOTEL
How to Green Your Hotel is a course and a textbook that I wrote for hoteliers and hospitality students.
It is based on over 100 workshops that I organized for Boston Green Tourism and the US EPA, and hundreds of newsletters that I authored. Many of the presentations and newsletter articles are posted on this website.
Mostly, the course is about what to do to improve performance in areas such as energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management and indoor air quality. It also describes why the actions are important for the environment, and their impact on costs and guest satisfaction. Students will also learn how to organize successful hotel environmental programs.
How to Green Your Hotel is a survey course. It covers a great breadth of topics. It enables participants to speak more intelligently about environmental matters with hotel subject matter experts, like the Directors of Engineering, Housekeeping, Purchasing and Food & Beverage.
The book that accompanies the course has scores of resources for hoteliers who want more depth on particular topics.
The course and the associated textbook have eleven chapters.
- The Benefits of Going Green
- Strategies for Success
- Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
- Water Conservation
- Waste Management
- Indoor Air Quality / Toxics Use Reduction
- Resilience to Climate Change
